Well done - I thought that you would have most likely been there. The photo was from back in the days I was working on control with Max Warburton.

I've worked close to there but never had the pleasure of visiting. Great photo of Charlie up there Dave! Here is another effort from the TL Survey lads, Bruce has provided this photo for me of a trig in the central South Island - it has a biblical name in part.

Funnily enough my Avatar photo is taken standing on [4029] Ref Mt Mary, Mr George and I spent a hot and unpleasant morning up there a couple of years back. Followed by a pleasant afternoon fishing in the Tekapo Pukaki canal. I haven't been up Mt Mary proper, but [1105] is probably in the distance behind me in the photo. I'll dredge out a new pic tonight.

OK, this one should be a doddle for Reece G. if he is watching - it's pretty much in his backyard. Otherwise I guess Brent G. might recognise it, he probably built it.... Er, BTW Brent, you might want to get LINZ to look at the access notes for this trig. 😳

B262 - PH MT ISOBEL (I cannot take the credit for the trig build in 2007 - I was on the valley floor whilst the work was being done by one Paul Halkett. Incidentally, I don't think the "PH" in the trig name relates to Paul's efforts...)
The access notes are certainly not for this trig. If you are wondering, they relate to AAE4 G ASHBURTON RIVER BRIDGE. I'll flag the issue to LINZ.
My turn... (watch this space)

Here is one from a few years back - a trig without a beacon... Hopefully a challenge...
The clues: 1. The Lighthouse in the background is one of the most distant from the Mainland - although you wouldn't have thought so... 2. The lighthouse was manned until 1979, when it was automated. The island is now uninhabited. 3. The location is on the main Island of a group which has a Maori name meaning "the oil of the Muttonbirds".

Perhaps some more clues... 4. The previous guess was certainly wrong - but was too far off the mark. 5. The Lighthouse in the background was built and began operating in 1883. 6. The main island - where the trig point is - has a European name starting with "B", and a Maori name starting with "P".
