The underlying issues relating to the Pike River disaster have been playing out in the media for a very long time. The political "hot-potato" of the mine sealing combined with the tenacity of the families and communities affected has resulted in a stand-off of late (literally and figuratively).
This article includes reference to information gathered, compiled and provided by a Surveyor that appears to have proven to be an "ace card" for the families in their attempt to stop what will inevitably be the final sealing of the drift entrance to the mine. Stuff 12 Dec 2016
An interesting piece of factual information provided in a clear an unambiguous way - where a portion of the physical road formation does not follow the defined legal formation - that has given the families control over road access.
But will it turn out to be the "trump card"?
