This is not part of the "name the trig" competition per se, although I am after the name of this trig, or at least the location of it. If indeed it is a trig station!
I visited this site around 2005 (that's me casually attached to the structure) and now cannot recall exactly where it was - except that it is betwixt Hokitika and Haast along the West Coast highway and in an easy access carpark/rest area. I am sure it is a monument in recognition of the Centenary of Surveying in NZ and thought that it was also a trig station or at least a geodetic mark. However, I cannot seem to find it via the LINZ geodetic database. Can anyone clarify for me where it is and possibly if it is a trig/geodetic mark? Ta.

The mark doesn't have a geodetic coordinate, but it is Memorial Trig DP 1579. It is within 'Surveyors Monument Reserve', Lot 1 DP 1579 which is held for the purpose of a historic purpose.

Thanks Alex. Mystery solved (for me).
PS: If we were ever over that way with some spare GNSS time I would be tempted to connect it to the geodetic network and give it a code......
