Christchurch locals will be aware of this small area of coastal occupation (or settlement?!!) and the seemingly on-going saga surrounding the continued use of the dwellings thereon. Stuff 23-June-2017
It astounds me how modern planning rules and perceived "PC" requirements are always at odds with this type of innocuous occupation. Regardless of the compliance (or otherwise) of the structures; regardless of their non-compliance (or otherwise) against the latest district plan rule fad/requirement; and regardless of their environmental aesthetics (beauty is in the eye of the beholder) - such baches are a vital part of the New Zealand way-of-life, and by continually applying local government legislation to try to bring their contribution to our land development history to an end is short-sighted and bigoted.
What do you think?
