They say that any publicity is good publicity. Stuff -27-June-2017
Great to see the Reporter had the aptitude to include "surveyors" amongst the visitors to "The Cook". (even though we came fourth in the list ).
Share your memories of this iconic institution - don't get confused with The Bowler; The Gardies; or The Oriental et al.....:
Here's mine: Getting into the habit of whipping down at lunchtime - often before a photogram practical afternoon - and having a mushroom omelette washed down with a jug of beer (shared of course!! ;-) in the upstairs lounge. The omelette cooked by the greasy Cooks at the Cook. I am sure that combination assisted with the ability to "land the dot" on the B8 (?) Plotter later on back at Survey School in Great King Street....

The Oompah band at the annual beer fest when I was there was always good and the inaugural survey wine and cheese evening there (circa 2000) was a great night and one where the survey school was used as impromptu overnight accommodation. I had a few Cook t-shirts from the regular Cook jug/t-shirt/bus and ticket deals for the Otago games at Carisbrook too.
