This name-and-shame report Stuff (Environment) 27-Aug-2018 identifies some blatant ignoring of resource consent processes and exhibits bad environmental stewardship. However, could it also be interpreted that for $34k plus remediation costs (supposedly $130k) the farmer has avoided expensive RM consent fees and consultant report costs etc and potentially created a reasonable amount of new pasture land with which could subsequently be used for commercial gain? Albeit not quite the 70ha he first thought he would "create" - but potentially a lesser amount once you take in some riparian planting etc....
