This news item caught my interest: Stuff: 31-Jan-2019On the face of it, it may seem a reasonable idea. That is - for Government to consider options that would enhance their current desire to meet the demand for new housing - one of those being to take land for housing purposes (with compensation of course!). The similarity with taking land for Road or Public Works is long established and is reasonably robust - with checks and balances and processes in place. The other aspect within the report is the ability of this new Authority to authorise services infrastructure construction (and perhaps other development components?!) overriding local district plans..... So why do I feel a little nervous that this will have some 'devil in the detail' type issues down the track? Or am I just being negative?
