This report Stuff: 14-July-2019 describes a rear-yard subdivision that appears to extend to the limits of the property boundary and building/planning rule envelopes. In fact, it would even appear that the retaining wall works have extended into the adjoining neighbours property - "The pink string illustrates how far the excavation has come on to the Herberts' land."Notwithstanding that the reported consent allowed for some cut and a retaining wall - what is silent (in the report) is: - what was the consented allowance for drainage (and backfill)? - what happened to the Council inspections? - will there be retrospective consents - or penalties - for the additional cut? - and what about the "rights of support" for the neighbours land? Whatever eventuates, the neighbourly relationships will never recover from such an event.... (Mangere Bridge - Auckland)
