This story about an existing established access to a beach - Stuff - 29 March 2018 - that was subsequently found to not be on Crown land has created some interesting comments.
They range from the silly to the sensible. (I'll let you decide on which are what... )
The legal rights are quite clear - the landowner has a right to request that an easement is created; or alternatively have the steps/path moved off his land. The moral rights (whatever standing they may have...) only imply that as a 'good citizen and neighbour', the landowner should allow free and unfettered access by the public across the portion of his private property.
