Last weekend, the NZ Government "announced" support funding investment for the investigation (with Australia) of implementing a SBAS for the country.

This follows trials over the last 2 years - as previously reported by LINZ:

All very nice for those users of global positioning systems who want greater accuracy.
But, can someone please tell me how the increase in accuracy from 5-10metres down to 10centimetres will really help with (say) a Rescue Pilot hovering retrieving a lost or injured tramper?
