I have been enjoying listening to this "replay" of a Radio NZ Podcast. It is a real story that is well-told, and one that - with today's understanding of cultural differences - highlights the indifference that some colonising British had in those times, along with their deliberate political interference, with some business misappropriation thrown in for good measure..... A two part series about Edward Gibbon Wakefield that explores the origins of the man once described as a ‘Founding Father of New Zealand’, and how his plans to colonise Aotearoa ran into some bitter realities:- Colonial Mastermind: the story of Edward Gibbon Wakefield (part 1) Radio NZ - PodcastColonial Mastermind: the story of Edward Gibbon Wakefield (part 2) Radio NZ - Podcast
