I stumbled across this wee gem today (when searching "What is Landonline?").... NZ Herald - Technology: 1-July-2002This article from 20 years ago paints the picture of the infant Landonline - its purpose; development time; cost; software/hardware; and a note of controversy.... I particularly "enjoyed":- - 1996 original budget $82.7 million versus agreed Cabinet spend of up to $154.4 million. - expectation to "make money back" by closing regional land offices and charging fees to lawyers and surveyors. - LINZ taking a "we know all" approach and being slow to involve users in the design [somewhat different to the current STEP programme].
