Farmers' market gets to move back to the dead-end road that's not a roadStuff - The Press: 25-July-2022A popular Christchurch farmers’ market has permission to move back to a road they were previously ordered off by the city council. But the move has come too late to prevent the riverside site from turning into a muddy quagmire. Stuff reported last month that South Christchurch Farmers’ Market had been forced to move just metres away onto the grass because the road, while it looked like a road, was not actually a road, according to the Christchurch City Council. It was a Stopped Road and Esplanade Reserve and apparently no markets were allowed on such reserves. An example of common sense being guzumped by rules and regulation initially, but triumphing in the end - when it is too late...
