But to understand Oteranga Bay*, you have to understand the rest of the tides too. Fun fact: On a stretch of the southwest coast of Norway there are no tides. The locals build properties right down to the shoreline, and even over it, because the sea doesn't move in and out. It's what's known as an amphidromic point. A second fun fact for the day: Some say there is another amphidromic point on the other side of the globe. That point is known as New Zealand. (*Where the Cooks Strait power cable comes ashore near Wellington)
