LGNZ Conference 2023 - Christchurch
The annual sharing of local government ideas and processes is happening this year in Christchurch.
If I were a cynic, I would also suggest that this is a time where the gestation of additional administration and red-tape and compliance processes are passed around between council underlings like a flu infection in winter without the protection of immunisation, which are subsequently adopted in full or in part - sometimes with enhancements.
Some of these activities may be considered 'process improvement' by some, but by outsiders such activities are pure bureaucracy that are installed to feather the nests of the TLA Teams to not only keep them in a job - but to create new jobs and roles and functions as a self-fulfilling prophecy. (And I am not necessarily talking only about Planners here....)
But, I may be wrong (I have been once before...
) If there are any LGNZ representatives or other knowledge people out there that may enlighten me - feel free to post!
