Debris tumbles onto Auckland beach from construction site as cliff edge erodes: Seaside locals continue to see debris falling beneath two houses sitting precariously on the edge of an eroding cliff face on Auckland's North Shore. Stuff - Environment: 14-July-2020It would seem that the drive for clifftop perches that afford great views (and status?!?) ignores the threats posed by "Mother Nature", climate change, and gravity.... (I was also amused by the comment that "properties have been enlarged so that the distance to the cliff edge has reduced through time". Presumably by "properties" the writer meant "buildings" - unless in Auckland there is some way that land boundaries (=property) can be expanded by the effluxion of time....

A dangerous building notice has been placed upon part of a home sitting atop an eroding cliff after further slips left parts teetering over the edge. The notice, issued by Auckland Council, comes after a spate of slips sent boulders, fencing and a mature pÅhutukawa tree tumbling down Dan Jones Bluff, on to Browns Bay Beach, on the North Shore. And it was only a matter of time... Stuff - Environment: 5-Sept-2020
