A pragmatic solution to a 10-year-old problem.... Stuff - The Press: 6-Aug-2020
And now it seems that these elected representatives are going told off like naughty schoolboys after being summoned to a "please explain" meeting at Council. And told to lawyer-up. No doubt they will be fined for: - not having a health & safety plan for the work; - not having a temporary traffic management plan in place for working on the portion near the road; - not having completed a myriad of paperwork and planning and design for the temporary work that in turn would require review and approval by Council Consultants; - not having completed contaminant testing of he water and suspended solids contained therein before drainage; - not have ECan consent to move water from A to B; - not having Council consent to drain water into a public stormwater drain; - displaying a no-nonsense approach to a problem that was being ignored by Council; - showing Council that simple works can be done at a minor cost (Council spent $8k to simply plug the Mauger drain!!)' - showing common sense; - embarrassing Council and Council Contractors. Perhaps Mr Mauger should consider billing Council for his time and equipment?
