Developers take new tack in search for land as investors buy up new homesStuff - The Press: 10-August-2021Housing developers are increasingly buying business land to build on in Christchurch as they scramble to meet buyer demand for new apartments and townhouses. More than half the city’s 3200 new home consents in the past year were for attached dwellings, and competition among developers for sites is boosting land prices in established neighbourhoods. Commercially zoned land was previously seen as too pricey for housing in inner suburbs, and rows of old housing had been making way for new construction.
