A company hoping to build a retirement village on Blenheim’s northwestern edge has altered its plans slightly hoping to win over its neighbour. But the retired doctor John Hedley is unswayed by Summerset's changes, saying the three-storey main building will be a visual intrusion, not just for him but the “future residents” of the subdivision he plans to develop around his home. Hedley was the sole submitter to speak against Summerset’s proposal at a resource consent hearing on Wednesday, where he objected to the complex’s height, fencing and stormwater collection.
