A court has ruled a Taranaki couple must remove newly planted trees that New Plymouth District Council says are encroaching on to public land and hindering visibility.
Yet trees on the opposite side of the driveway of Jason and Tabitha Petersen’s Tikorangi property, and a non-compliant fence, can remain.

No clear mention of where the legal boundary is in relation to the fence, other than:
"There had also been an issue with a fence the couple put up on what they thought was their boundary, where an old fence had been, but NPDC has waived the issue."
