Yes, I suspect that the mayor of Linz (population 190,000) will be getting on to the Press for libel. Do journalists ever check what they write?

It seems very poor that the neighbouring landowners weren't notified by mail - there is provision for this in the act and it would seem sensible.

Like most (all?!) things reported in the press/media - there is likely to be some information omitted/misreported/misunderstood. It will be interesting to see if there is any response from LINZ, or indeed, the RGL.
And then there is the conspiracy theories - Is it any coincidence that the claimant is also a member of the Property Institute of NZ??

The press would be very lucky to get any response at all from the office of the RGL as it is my experience that they are very difficult to get a useful and friendly response from that does not require expertise in solving cryptic puzzles and will not respond at all unless contact is made through a landonline request. (not at all like the staff of the SG who usual go out of their way to be helpful)
