New Zealand Guide to Temporary Traffic Management (NZGTTM)NZTA - NZGTTMThe draft New Zealand guide to temporary traffic management sets out ways to improve safety for everyone on Aotearoa New Zealand roads. It outlines how to use a risk-based approach to prioritise the safety of all road users including people walking, on bikes, driving vehicles and the many New Zealanders who work on our roads. It will be useful for road construction and maintenance, events, emergency response or any activity where a temporary road design is required. The draft guide has been developed with input from across the road safety sector and international practices to help contribute to Road to Zero, New Zealand’s road safety strategy, where no one is killed or seriously injured on our roads. Public consultation on the draft guide is now closed. We’re continuing to engage with stakeholders while we analyse the detailed feedback. We’ll continue to update this page. The survey community should be well aware of this guide which will replace the current Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management (CoPTTM). The impacts of this Guide - in terms of costs; compliance; time; training requirements; auditing; and contractor support - will not be insignificant.

Traffic Island Weeds Thrive Amid Red Tape WrangleStuff - National: 28-July-2022New national safety rules are leaving traffic islands across the country weed strewn and jungle-like, with one local leader branding the eyesores potentially dangerous. A jungle-like median on a Hamilton main thoroughfare left so long a sturdy gorse bush has grown to full bloom is the latest case and has the city’s deputy mayor hot under the collar. It comes on the heels of another oasis of foliage in a state highway median in Nelson riling residents.
