‘Historic hassle’: Family’s nightmare trying to shift historic home

A young family who have dedicated a decade of their lives to restoring a historic homestead say they are on the brink of giving up because of the Christchurch City Council’s “shifting goalposts”.
Kris and Lucy Mackie want their 140-year-old home, named Windsor Park, on Ajax St, to have pride of place. To them that means moving it about a kilometre down the road into a designated character area, where zoning rules will stop neighbours from growing up and around it.
